We Love Bounce interview with Mark H
1). You’re playing at We Love Bounce in November – define “bounce” for
those that have never heard it before.
Bounce is fun end of hard dance, it’s energetic, lively and puts
smiles on peoples faces. If you have never experienced bounce you must
get yourself to Hidden on the 14th November for some of the finest
bouncy beats.
2). How did you get in to bounce?
I have always been a bounce lover, when I was learning to mix back in
2002 I was really in to Ingos bounce sound. One of the 1st vinyl’s I
ever brought was Ingos Are You Ready For This, this was one record
that really got me in to it.
3). You’re head-honcho at Polysexual – how did that come about?
I have been resident Dj at Polysexual for 4 years now, as resident I
always had input in to the Dj selections and promotion. When the
previous promoter left a couple of years ago I sat perfectly in to the
position of promoter and grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
4). Polysexual has had some amazing nights – what has been your favourite?
There are so many incredible Polysexual partys to pick from including
the festivals at Global Gathering, Escape in the Park, HiFi, and
Planet Love but the favorite for me was the Polysexual room in Sweden
on a Cruise liner with Lisa Lashes, BK and Cally Gage. That will
stick in my mind for ever.
5). How did you get in to the hard-dance scene?
I have been in to hardhouse for around 8 years now, god I'm showing my
age! I was really in to trance and a regular at Godskitchen but one
weekend I got dragged to Sundissential by my mates and I really caught
the hardhouse bug. Its all Lisa Lashes and Fergies fault, if it was
not for them I would probably still be in to trance.
6). As a promoter you probably get loads of demos from up-coming DJs –
what do you look for in a demo?
Yep your right I get several each week! The tune selection always
grabs my attention 1st but the ordering of the tracks is very
important to me. It's also good to hear an original demo that is
different from the norm.
7). You’re based in Birmingham, how do crowds differ from other cities
and towns in the UK?
As Birmingham is right in the middle of the UK the Birmingham crowd
loves all things harddance whether it is bounce, filth, or hardtrance.
Where as in a lot of other Citys clubbers are more selective with
there music styles.
8). What is the one record guaranteed to get you on the dance floor?
It’s rare that you will see me on a dance floor these days but the
Tony De Vit classic I Don’t Care always hits the spot for me.
9). Where do you see hard dance events in five years time?
There is no doubt that the harddance seen has suffered over recent
years but in 5 years time I can see it been huge once again. With so
many top producers out there we are now spoilt for choice with the
quality of the music. Hard dance Djs are pushing all boundaries and
the dj talent that is now on offer is amazing. I think it’s only a
matter of time before hard house clubs are packed again every week
nation wide!
10). Please complete the following... “I love bounce because...”
I love bounce because it creates an atmosphere like no other. Its for
people who love music and know how to party, all the seriousness is
stripped away and we are left with a true party vibe, that’s why I
love it!
